Professor Octavius Pinkard is Assistant Director of the Honors Program. He joined the CNU faculty in the Fall of 2003, and is also a professor in the Department of Government and Public Affairs, where he is a specialist in International Relations and Development Studies.
In the Honors Program, he will work closely with Honors Students to prepare them for postgraduate scholarship and study opportunities, and for career pursuits of both an academic and policy vein. Also, Professor Pinkard seeks to enhance the global experience of Honors Students by facilitating international travel, study abroad, and internships as vital components of their CNU experience.
Professor Pinkard joins us from the College of William and Mary, where he taught Comparative Politics and International Relations. He is a foreign affairs columnist for The Jordan Times, has worked at NATO Headquarters and the Euro-Atlantic Foundation in Brussels, Belgium, has been a consultant for French President Jacques Chirac's presidential campaigns, and has been regularly invited as a guest speaker in over half a dozen countries. He has been invited to serve as a Visiting Graduate Scholar at Oxford University during the summer of 2004.
He did his undergraduate work at Christopher Newport University, and earned an M.A. in International Studies (Foreign Policy) from Old Dominion University. He is a Ph.D. candidate in International Studies (International Political Economy and Development) from Old Dominion University.
